afc leads nfc
The 2017 NFL season is only a couple of weeks old, but in inter-conference matchups, the AFC leads NFC 4-3. After the L. A. Rams crushed the Indianapolis Colts 46-9 in the opening week, the AFC won four-of-six games this week. Starting us off was the closest game, a real-nailbiter between the Arizona Cardinals and the Colts, won by the Cardinals 16-13 in overtime. Carolina won the other game for the NFC, 9-3 over Buffalo.
The four games the AFC won were Kansas City over the Eagles 27-20, Denver swamped Dallas 42-17, New England beat New Orleans 36-20 and Pittsburgh overcame Minnesota 26-9. The AFC has outscored the NFC 156-137 in the seven games. Inter-conference games this week are Pittsburgh at Chicago, Seattle at Tennessee, Cincinnati travels to Green Bay and on Sunday night Oakland visits Washington.
The following week the Eagles fly cross-country to play the L. A. Chargers, New Orleans plays Miami in London, Buffalo is at Atlanta, Carolina is at New England, the two night games are Indianapolis traveling to Seattle (Sunday) and Kansas City hosting Washington (Monday). The fifth week of the season begins with an inter-conference game between visiting New England and Tampa Bay on Thursday night football. San Francisco is at Indianapolis and the New York Giants host the L. A. Chargers. Thats thinking a little bit ahead for ya.
The fourth week of the season will be an interesting one considering all the flying taking place. Thats a long flight the Eagles will take to L.A. but an even longer one will be the flight the Dolphins and Saints will take to play in London. Jet-lag will be on the mind of all those participating in those games. Certainly not on the mind of the Chargers, but on the mind of the Eagles, including players, coaches, trainers, medical staff and the rest of their personnel. Then there is the game in London scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start. When a game comes on on the east coast at 4, it is 1 on the west coast. When it is 1 here, it is 10 a.m. So I am taking a wild guess and saying if the game begins at 9:30 here, it is probably six hours later in London which would make it 3:30 p.m. It will make for a week that is certainly different. Thats all from here and signing off.
